Person Centred Services

‘Working together to make life better and to improve the quality of life' is at the heart of what we do.

Our mission and values are in tune with the personalisation of care agenda, promoting a strong person-centred approach, personal choices and personal outcomes for all our service users. Those whom we support are not simply service users but co-producers of their services, actively involved in service planning, delivery, review and improvement.

CHOICES CARE enables people with disabilities to make their own decisions and to live their own lives, through the care and support they receive. This is achieved by:

  • supporting our staff to work in partnership with the people they support
  • ongoing planning and consultation making sure the person's dreams, needs, wishes, expectations and priorities are at the heart of their service
  • using independent advocacy services to develop and encourage self advocacy
  • person-centred planning, coaching and training underlining the values of inclusion, rights, independence, and choice.

Our strategic plans for 2009/10 particularly emphasise how we at CHOICES develop policy, deliver and improve service through fully engaging those who use our services and their representatives. Service users, as co-producers, will take part in service audits, staff training, monitoring and feedback.

All this demands a new kind of leadership at every level across the Choices group, from service user, support staff to senior managers, if we are to achieve real person-centred service delivery.
